Thursday 6/19: Dance & Bonfire

Well, it’s the end of a special day and the campers are in for the night. We had a fantastic time at the dance and listening to Mr. D tell stories around the campfire. The campers dressed in some awesome sports-themed outfits for the dance- we had refs, race car drivers, tennis pros, soccer players, a runner, an ice skater, a swimmer and of course lots of Bulls, Bears, Blackhawks, Sox and Cubs gear! The campers also had the opportunity to hear Mr. D share stories around the bonfire (until the rain forced us inside) and make s’mores. As always, Mr. D kept the campers engaged and everyone had a great time.

Today our Pick Up Your Cross and Follow Me campers arrived and will spend the entire day with us tomorrow. We can’t wait to share another year of Fanari agape with them!

Tonight the 6th grade won the spirit stick for dancing up a storm at the dance, and we closed evening chapel with “Gloria,” a camper favorite, “Pharaoh Pharaoh,” “Seek Ye First,” and “In My Life”!

It’s been a truly beautiful day and we’ve been blessed with such wonderful experiences at Fanari. We only have one more full day of camp, and as always, this week has flown by!

Thursday 6/20: Dance & Bonfire

Well, it’s the end of a special day and the campers are in for the night. We had a fantastic time at the dance and listening to Mr. D tell stories at the bonfire. The campers dressed in some great western-themed outfits for the dance- cowboys, cowgirls, and even a horse! The campers also had the chance to hear Mr. D share stories around the bonfire and make s’mores. As always, Mr. D kept the campers engaged and everyone had a great time.

Today our Pick Up Your Cross and Follow Me campers arrived and will spend the entire day with us tomorrow. We can’t wait to share another year of Fanari agape with them!

Tonight the 7th and 11th grades won the spirit sticks and we closed evening chapel with “Gloria,” “Shine On” and an all-time Fanari classic, “Let There Be Peace On Earth”!

It’s been a truly beautiful day and we’ve been blessed with such wonderful experiences at Fanari. We only have one more full day of camp, and as always, this week has flown by!

Thursday 6/20: Picnic & Water Game Fun

What a great day so far! After breakfast we went down to the waterfront to enjoy the afternoon of free-time, food, and the infamous Fanari Water Games! We had the most beautiful weather, sunny and not too hot. The campers played volleyball, Ga Ga Ball and hung out by the water. His Eminence Metropolitan Iakovos visited us today, and spent the afternoon with the campers.

After lunch, we all went down to the waterfront for the 3rd Annual Fanari Camp Water Games. We had quite a few capsized boats and the final round had the 11th grade just edging out the 6th grade for the win.

We’re just finishing dinner and then we’re off to get ready for the dance. Since we’re celebrating western-style, we can’t wait to see what our creative campers come up with for the theme!

2013 Dance Theme!

This summer our dance theme is western!

Time to pull out your denim, plaid, bandanas, and cowboy gear! Be creative and tell your friends.

See you in 20 days!!!

Thursday 6/21: Picnic & Water Games

What a great day so far! After breakfast we went down to the waterfront to enjoy the afternoon of free-time, food, and the infamous Fanari Water Games! We had the most beautiful weather, sunny and not too hot. The campers played volleyball, soccer, and the 11th grade even had an impromptu sing-a-long with some of the songs we sang last night.

With the traditional Fanari Camp picnic souvlaki making it’s return after a few years absence, the campers enjoyed a wonderful picnic by the volleyball courts. His Eminence Metropolitan Iakovos visited us today, and spent the afternoon with the campers.

After lunch, we all went down to the waterfront for the 2nd Annual Fanari Camp Water Games. Hosted by the creative commentary of Cristin, Lee, John, Chris and Nick, the games were a huge success. Only a few capsized boats and only two that required towing back to the dock. 🙂 Everyone had a great time and we can’t wait to see the video footage, which we’ll post on our YouTube Channel after camp.

We’re just finishing dinner and we’re off to get ready for the dance. Since we’re celebrating Olympic-style, rumor has it that the US Curling Team and the Jamaican Bobsled Team might be making an appearance! Fingers crossed!
