We’re winding down the week, but there’s no slowing down. Today was a hot one, but full of new adventures and funny memories.
We made our last rounds to all our sessions today and wrapped up what we learned in O.L., and Bible Study. It was dress rehearsal time in Theater, before tonight’s final performances. And our Flex session was Athletics, where campers braved the heat and played various games out on the fields. It was a busy morning, but then we kicked back and enjoyed a fun filled free-time with friends.
To beat the heat, campers once again cooled down on our giant water slide on this hot and humid day. Others enjoyed the Marina and boating with their counselors in our new boats and canoes. Maria’s wacky wagon ride took campers to the barn, to listen to a guided tour and visit with the animals! And lastly, counselor Evan, once again entertained campers with an impromptu Zumba class! Everyone cooled down at some point, in the Main Lodge, by getting their free ice cream for the day, playing games, and visiting the Camp Store, one more time, to grab some last minute candy and Fanari swag. So much happening on our last full day of Fanari Camp!
Tonight’s evening activity was Skit Night! Campers have been working hard in Theater all week, perfecting their lines and putting together dances, songs and punch lines, to entertain us all. Big shout out to our Theater Staff, Angie and Chrysanthe, who helped put a fabulous show together, all week long!
Then it was time for our final spirit award! It was a close race, but there could only be one winner. Huge congratulations to the Athenians, the Session 2 Fanari Camp Spirit Winners! They truly embraced the Fanari Spirit all week-long with amazing counselors to lead them!
We ended the night with some final words from Deacon Chris, who expressed his hope that like our theme this week, we all open the door to Christ, and follow the path that he has set for us in our lives. Our five 11th graders were also recognized, as they’ve completed their final year at Fanari Camp. We hope the experiences, friendships and memories they take with them, will always hold a special place in their hearts. A slide show of some of the pictures we took this week was played and then we sang a few of our favorite songs, one last time together.
What beautiful memories we’ve made this week! Our hopes are that all the campers take away something from their experiences here and share them with those at home. All is quiet in camp tonight. Goodnight from Fanari Camp headquarters…we’ll see you tomorrow for Divine Liturgy and our final goodbyes.
