We’re baaaaaaaaaack!!! Session 3 of Fanari Camp has begun and we are so excited to be back at camp and starting another blessed week together, as one family in Christ.
After the arrival of all 145 of our campers, we enjoyed dinner together and then began our orientation with Deacon Chris Avramopoulos, where he talked about our rules and what to expect this week at our beautiful facility. We met all our amazing and spirited staff and learned what musician/band is their favorite!
Spirit points are up for grabs! Our spirit squad, Diakonissa Nicole and Maria, explained how we show we have the Holy Spirit within, by displaying unity, love, respect and kindess during the week. Each cabin can earn spirit coins during the day and spirit sticks will be given out each night. Who will be our Session 3 Spirit Winners??? We’re looking forward to seeing all the crazy energy and fun that our campers and counselors come up with! Next, our Camp Store snacks and swag were introduced by our staff, so the campers could get a preview of what they can purchase starting tomorrow during free time.
We wrapped things up by going through a rotation of our Daily Activities this week: Orthodox Life, Bible Study, Theater and Flex, where we will rotate with Greek Culture, Chanting, Arts & Crafts and Athletics each day. We’re sure to have a fulfilling week of fun and learning!
I scream, you scream! We all scream for ICE CREAM! Our Orthodox Sunday Sundae bar was a hit, and everyone enjoyed making their own creations with tons of delicious toppings to choose from. A neat treat to satisfy our sweet tooth!
MAIL TIME!!! Our first set of “CampGrams” were delivered and our campers who received them were happily surprised! Campdoc is offering a one-way communication tool that allows you to easily send messages to your camper. Families can purchase tokens in bundles in their online registration for $5, $8 or $10. Login to your account now to purchase some! CampGrams will be printed and passed out to campers each day after lunch.
As our night came to an end, we gathered in the Main Lodge for our chapel service, led by Fr. Chris Mihalopoulos and Deacon Chris Avramopoulos. Campers then went back to their cabins to do their first devotionals of the week with their counselors. What a peaceful way to end our first night together!
Session 3 is off to a fantastic start! We are settling in to what we pray will be a blessed week of camp for everyone. Goodnight from Fanari Camp Headquarters…we look forward to see what tomorrow will bring!
