Fanari Camp Session 4 Begins!

Our final session of the summer is here! Session 4 of Fanari Camp has begun and we are so excited to be back at camp and starting another blessed week together!

After the arrival of all our campers, we enjoyed dinner together and then began our orientation with Deacon Chris Avramopoulos, where he talked about our rules and what to expect this week at our beautiful facility. We met all our amazing and spirited counselors and learned what super hero is their favorite!

Spirit points are up for grabs! Our spirit squad, Diakonissa Nicole and Maria, explained how we show we have the Holy Spirit within, by displaying unity, love, respect and kindess during the week. Each cabin can earn spirit coins during the day and spirit sticks will be given out each night. We’re looking forward to a fun week with lots of spirited campers and counselors! Next, all our Camp Store snacks and swag were modeled by our staff, so the campers could get a preview of what they can purchase starting tomorrow during free time!

Finally, we went through a rotation of each of our daily activities: Orthodox Life, Bible Study, Theater, and “Flex”, where we will rotate with Greek Culture, Chanting, Arts & Crafts and Athletics each day. Afterwards, we enjoyed the ultimate ice cream social with lots of  delicious toppings and had fun listening to music and getting to know our cabinmates. What a fun 1st night at Fanari Camp!

As our night came to an end, we gathered in the Main Lodge for our chapel service, led by Fr. Christodoulos Margellos from St. Nicholas in Oaklawn. Campers then went back to their cabins to do their first devotionals with their counselors and get settled in for the night.

What a wonderful beginning for our Session 4 campers and staff! We look forward to all the memories we’ll make this week together. Goodnight from Fanari Camp Headquarters….see you tomorrow for the beginning of what we know will be another blessed week of camp!
