We’re back home at the St. Iakovos Retreat Center for another transforming week of Fanari Camp! The campers have all arrived and we’ve joined together as one family in Christ to begin our week together.
After dinner, we had our Orientation, where Deacon Chris went over the Rules and Regulations and what to expect this week at camp. Who will be the Session 3 Spirit Winners?! We learned about spirit coins and how to earn them, by showing we have the Holy Spirit within us all week long through random acts of kindness, respect and love. Next, we were introduced to all our amazing staff, as they revealed their favorite Super Hero. We wrapped things up with each cabin going through their Rotation of Daily Activities: Theater, Bible Study, Orthodox Life and Flex, where they learned about all that we have in store for them this week in our sessions.
Following Orientation, campers enjoyed an ice cream social, while listening to music and getting to know each other. We ended the evening with Compline in the Main Lodge, led by Fr. Chris Mihalopoulos from St. Demetrios in Chicago and Deacon Chris Avramopoulos. What a peaceful way to conclude our first day, worshipping together!
The campers have all returned to their cabins to do their first devotionals with their counselors. We are settling in to what we pray will be a blessed week of Fanari Camp for everyone. Goodnight for now…we look forward to see what tomorrow will bring!
