We started our first full day of Session 2 at Fanari Camp with an Agiasmos service, led by Fr. Tilemahos Alikakos, to bless our campers and staff. After dismissal we introduced the campers to “Alone with God”, where we spend a few minutes each morning spread out in silence, to pray and begin our day focused on Christ.
After a delicious breakfast, our campers went through their rotation schedule. Today’s Flex was Greek Culture, where Sara & Peter taught everyone some new dances for Greek night tonight! Campers also started working on their skits in Theater and learned more about their faith in OL and Bible Study.
The weather was beautiful and free-time was filled with a lot of outdoor activities. All campers who plan to hang out at the pool this week, took their swim test. Others were out on the basketball court and soccer field, or playing in our Octoball pit. The Camp Store was open for campers to purchase snacks and all our cool new swag! Campers also hung out and played some games and made friendship bracelets inside the Main Lodge.
Tonight the campers danced the night away Greek style!!! Big shout-out to our DJ, Chrysanthe Agos, for playing and organizing our music for Greek night. We once again danced outside under the carport in front of our beautiful Main Lodge. The campers and staff definitely had a fun night! OPA!
We ended with Closing day in chapel and listened to Alex Magdalinos reflect on staying focused on Christ and Agape throughout the week.
Tonight’s spirit stick went to the Olympians and Delphians for beginning our week with so much enthusiasm, love and spirit! We closed out the night singing, “Gloria”, “I am a C-H-R-I-S-T-I-A-N” and “Seek Ye First”, as well as the hymn, “Lord of the Powers’, as the campers sang arm in arm. What a great day of fellowship and fun, as we learn more about our culture and faith. We truly are blessed being away from our every day surroundings, and spending a week together to focus on Christ our beautiful Orthodox faith. God bless & goodnight!
