Another enjoyable day at Fanari Camp! We’re learning so much…we’re making new friends…we feel at home at the retreat center…we’ve all become a family rooted in the love of Christ. The Lord has truly blessed us all, bringing us together for this one week!
Our Flex session today was Athletics. Campers were able to choose from various sports, but most wanted to play our new “Octoball” game! It’s intense and exciting to watch!
There was so much going on during free-time today! The soccer field and Octoball were both filled with campers, while others enjoyed playing ultimate frisbee and swimming in the pool. Camp Store was busy, as usual, with customers buying swag and treats, and others chose to play games and relax inside the Main Lodge. Fun follows us around, all day long, at Fanari Camp!
Tonight’s evening activity was our annual Fanari Olympic Games. Each cabin came in armored with the ultimate Fanari Spirit and ready to play all the games! The competition was intense and the points were close until the final game: Balloon Tag! In the end the Athenians played with all their hearts, were victorious and received the trophy for earning the most points tonight! Congratulations!
At Closing Day, Fr. Kosmas Kallis shared a story about a woman who wanted to become a nun when she was 15. But, because of many different obstacles in her life, she had to wait until she was 90 years old to become a nun. At her tonsuring, she was given the name, “ipomoni” or patience, which show us that with perseverance and trust in Christ, we can achieve our goals.
Our Olympians and Spartans won spirit sticks for the day, after showing so much unity, love and kindness! Their energetic, amazing counselors keep their spirit up all day long! The entire camp once again joined Marina in singing “Deep” and “Seek Ye First” before we dismissed to our cabins for the night.
Today we created so many beautiful memories, which we are truly thankful for. Goodnight, Fanari Camp. We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings us all!
