We’re beginning our 4th and final Session of Fanari Camp and we are so excited to start another memorable week together! All the campers got settled in after drop off and started to explore the beautiful new facility that they will call home for the week.
After dinner in the cafeteria, all the cabins were chanting and singing their cabin names–Athenians–Olympians–Spartans!!! They definitely have spirit already! We then began our orientation, where Deacon Chris explained our schedule for the week and went over all our rules and procedures. We also talked about our Spirit Coins and how they earn each cabin Spirit Points everyday. Finally, our counselors for each cabin were introduced and told us what their favorite snack food is to eat! All delicious choices!
Next, we went through a rotation of each of our daily activities: Orthodox Life, Bible Study, Theater, and our new activity “Flex”, where we will rotate with Greek Culture, Diakonia, Arts & Crafts and Athletics each day. Afterwards, we enjoyed an ice cream social and had an impromptu dance party, while listening to music! Our first night at Fanari Camp and already we’re having fun!
As our night came to an end, we gathered in the Main Lodge for our chapel service, lead by Fr. Christodoulos Margellos from St. George in Rock Island. We waited out the rain and did our first devotionals in the Main Lodge before heading to our cabins and getting settled in for the night.
Session 4 of Fanari Camp is off to a fantastic start! Stay tuned each day for all the fun and blessings we experience during our week together. Good night, Fanari Camp. See you tomorrow!
