Thursday 6/9: Prosfora, Saints, Chanting and Picnic Day

Another beautiful, sunny day at Fanari Camp! After morning chapel and breakfast, we started off our day with 4 rotations: A session on Prosforo baking and the meaning of the seal and ingredients with Deacon Chris and Michael Kallis, Chanting with Alex Magdalinos, Proskinitaria walk with Ari Chrystofidis, Louie Pappas and Fr. Tom Alajakis and Athletics with the staff.  We will use the bread we made as our andithoron for our Sunday Liturgy. What a wonderful morning filled with so much new and exciting things we are learning and experiencing at camp!

Then it was picnic time!!! We had a few clergy and their families visit us today. Fr. Ted Poteres blessed our delicious food so the picnic could begin. Campers had fun swimming, playing soccer, basketball and hanging out in the Main Lodge making friendship bracelets and playing games. Farmer Joe even started up the tractor and gave everyone rides to the barn to visit with the animals. Maria Pentaris gave everyone a personalized “Fanari Safari” experience on the wagon ride! So much fun and silliness at Fanari!

Our afternoon ended with an exciting Counselor vs. Clergy softball game!!! Congratulation to our Clergy, who had a little help from campers Anna Smith and Staci Stark, for winning the intense showdown! Campers had a great time watching all our talented staff have fun and compete together in Christian athleticism.

We just finished with evening chapel, lead by Fr. Ted Poteres from SS. Constantine and Helen in Merrillville, Indiana, ate dinner and are now getting ready for our dance. We can’t wait to see everyone’s Hawaiian fashion for the Luau! Stay tuned!
