Sunday 6/28: Saying Goodbye

The week flew by so quickly! We couldn’t have been blessed with a better week filled with beautiful weather, amazing counselors and friendships to always cherish. After many pictures with friends, hugs and a few tears, Session 2 is complete and the campers have all returned home.

‘The culmination of our beautiful week of Fanari 2015 “Come Let Us Worship” was attending Divine Liturgy before we departed today. Fr. Anastasios Theodoropoulos and Deacon Chris Avramopoulos celebrated the Divine Liturgy together and chanted a memorial for our beloved Fr. Bill Chiganos and all those Fanari campers and counselors who have fallen asleep in the Lord.

Deacon Chris gave a closing reflection about all the campers being the “Fanari”, the beacon of light, shining forth Christ’s love to all who they meet. We ended our service with the whole camp singing “Lord of the Powers”, while standing in a circle, hand in hand, together.

Our hope is that the campers gained a deeper knowledge of their faith this week and that new friendships were made and old friendships were strengthened. 11th graders, God willing, we will have you back as counselors some day, to be leaders and role models for our young campers. We pray that you all carry your Fanari agape with you throughout your lives!

A heartfelt thank you to all our counselors, staff and clergy for all of your hard work and love that you put into our week together. None of this is possible without your dedication to the youth of our Metropolis and we are very thankful for you!

Farewell, Session 2 campers. Onward to Session 3!
