Wednesday 6/17: Sunshine & Greek Night

Wednesday was a beautiful day! The sun was out again today and we soaked up every bit of it!

This morning, Fr. George Lamberis served in chapel and gave us a beautiful sermon about forgiveness. Today’s “Flex” session was Diakonia. This year in Diakonia, we are putting our efforts towards serving our beautiful new Retreat Center. Our campers worked hard fixing the fences, clearing the path to the Proskinarion and putting together our brand new soccer goals. We are very proud of their hard work and contribution to the beautification of our blessed new home.

The sun was out during free time and the campers enjoyed some time down at the pool, visiting the Camp Store and playing soccer. Campers also learned how to chant with Alex, while other enjoyed just hanging out in the Main Lodge together. We were blessed with a few visitors today: Fr. Ted & Presbytera Poteres, Fr. Chris, Presbytera Toni & Luke Mihalopoulos and Fr. Andrew Georganas. What a blessing!

After our afternoon session we had chapel, lead by Fr. Achilles Karathanos from Swansea, IL, dinner and then prepared for our evening activity- Greek Night! Big shout-out to Cristin for DJ-ing. We danced outside under the stars and enjoyed experiencing our culture through Greek dance. Campers also had the option to listen to stories with Mr. D by the fireplace on our beautiful outdoor balcony. The campers and staff definitely had a fun night!

We ended with Closing day in chapel and listened to Michael Kallis reflect on how as orthodox christians, we are here to help one another live and carry our faith wherever we are in our life. We’re having a blast, making friends, and learning so much about our faith. We love Fanari!
